GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) Architecture & Planning is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) for admission into postgraduate programs in architecture and planning offered by various Indian institutes.
Candidates with a bachelor's degree in architecture or planning or pursuing their final year, pre-final year of study in these programs can apply for GATE Architecture & Planning.
GATE Architecture & Planning is a computer-based exam consisting of 65 questions worth 100 marks. The duration of the exam is three hours. The paper consists of three types of questions - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs),Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions and Multiple select questions (MSQ). Student can opt for either Architecture part or Planning part at the time of exam aslso. There will be three section first one is Common section, 2nd is Architecture and 3rd is Planning Section. Common section will contain 60 marks and Architeure or planning will contain 25 marks. Rest 15 marks will be of general aptitude section.
GATE Architecture & Planning is conducted once a year in the month of February.
After qualifying GATE Architecture & Planning, candidates can pursue postgraduate programs in architecture and planning from various Indian institutes. They can also pursue careers in urban planning, environmental planning, architecture and design, real estate development, construction management, and government organizations related to the field of architecture and planning.
The minimum score required to qualify for GATE Architecture & Planning varies from year to year and is decided by the conducting authority. Generally, a score above 35-40 marks is considered as cut-off score for admission into postgraduate programs in architecture and planning.
